‘My Election’ useful for voters, candidates and Malayali Diaspora alike
Thiruvananthapuram, Apr 2: As Kerala gears up for the high-octane assembly elections in May, a Kochi-based event and campaign management firm has developed a first-of-its-kind bilingual and interactive mobile application that provides users with the entire poll-related information — ranging from details of candidates in a constituency to live news streaming from Malayalam channels.
‘My Election’, designed by Lamda Media Solutions Private Limited for Android smart phones, allows the voters to find out details about their polling stations. It has also the options to view live news streaming from leading Malayalam news channels and online news feeds related to the polls.
To top it all, the free-to-download app is encyclopaedic in content as it provides a history of all Kerala Assembly Elections since 1957.
Users can register on the app with details, including their district, when they first log in. This will give them access to all information, including the details of candidates in the constituencies, specifically of their respective constituency, and the past achievements of the candidates, irrespective of their political backgrounds.
“The app, which is simple and user-friendly, acts as a knowledge sharing platform for the voters of the state. Moreover, elections in the state always generate nostalgic feelings for the expatriates. The Kerala Diaspora can now get live updates of the elections simply through their handsets,” said Bobby Elanjickal, Managing Director, Lamda.
For those in the fray, it can serve as a campaign vehicle. The candidates will be provided with specific IDs through which they can access the server and add details to their profiles. This will allow them to upload videos and photos. Subscribers of the app can “like” these feeds to receive notification on any updates made by the candidates.
“The application is a first-of-its-kind because of its comprehensiveness. Every update related to the election can be accessed though a single touch. The language of application can be switched to either English or Malayalam,” Mr. Elanjickal said. The ‘My Election’ app, which is an interactive platform, also offers users the chance to participate in a poll prediction contest, with attractive gifts for winners.
“As an event management firm, we have done several campaign works for different candidates in the past elections. In the era of social media and its instant impact on voters, we chose this platform through which every candidate can competitively campaign,” he added.
The mobile application is available in Google Play Store. Apart from the application, the company has also launched a website, HYPERLINK “http://www.myelection.vote” www.myelection.vote, with the same features as that of the application.
